We’re excited to welcome the St. Francis Rock Band to EVBS on Thursday, November 14th! As part of their Northern Communities Tour, the band will be performing a lively concert for our students, showcasing different styles of music in a rock band setting. It’s sure to be an engaging and fun musical experience for all!

Mike Snider, Team Leader at Gadzoosdaa Student Residence, will be visiting EVBS to chat with students who might be thinking about attending school in Whitehorse and staying at Gadzoosdaa.

Students will have the pleasure of guiding their parents/guardians through the classroom, presenting their projects and sharing their accomplishments. This is a chance to meet with your child’s classroom teacher - these interviews are scheduled in 10-minute blocks.

This event offers a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the learning and progress students have achieved.

School will be closed for Thanksgiving, a time for gathering and gratitude.

Students will have the day off while staff engage in professional learning and training.

Students will be running laps and collecting popsicle sticks—the top stick collectors in each age group will take home a TURKEY PRIZE to enjoy with their family this holiday weekend !

Selkirk First Nation will be hosting a Community Update Meeting on Thursday, October 2nd at the Pelly Crossing Link Building from 10am until 4pm.

This is an important opportunity to hear updates from the First Nation School Board on Eliza Van Bibber School, ask questions, and bring forward any concerns or suggestions.

Lunch will be provided!

Our school will be closed on September 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is a day to remember the children who went to residential schools and the ones who never came home, as well as to honour the Survivors and their families.

On this day, Canadians are encouraged to learn, reflect, and listen to the stories of Indigenous peoples. Many people choose to wear orange as a way to show care and support — this is why it’s often called Orange Shirt Day.

It’s an important time for all of us to show kindness, respect, and understanding as we work toward reconciliation together.

On Monday, September 29th, our school will come together to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Students and staff will gather at the school and begin a commemorative walk to The Residential School Survivors Monument, at 10:30am.

We acknowledge that our youth may be impacted by the recent tragic loss in Selkirk First Nation. As a school and community, we will support them to heal.

We also recognize we haven’t comforted our youth in a way that assures they are seen, and cared for. We are here for them.

A core team of counsellors will be coming to EVBS to talk with students about what has happened. We will offer energy clearing and let students know we see them and empathize with them.

There are counselling supports available in the community and at school for anyone who is impacted or struggling.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, we will hold healing circles around a fire in the new EVBS outdoor classroom as a safe space for conversation and support. Smudging will be offered for students who wish to take part.
