Principal's Welcome Message – 2026–2027 School Year
Welcome back to Eliza Van Bibber School!
On behalf of our staff, I am delighted to welcome all students, families, and community members to the 2026–2027 school year. We hope everyone enjoyed a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer filled with opportunities to connect with family, culture, community, and the land.
As we begin a new school year, we are excited to welcome both returning and new students to our school community. The start of a new year brings fresh opportunities for learning, growth, discovery, and friendship. We look forward to supporting each student as they develop their skills, explore new interests, and achieve their personal and academic goals.
We are also pleased to welcome all our teachers back for another year of learning and growth. What a blessing it is for our students to have such a dedicated staff working together to help them reach their full potential. I would also like to extend a special welcome to the newest member of our team, Sophie Collins. As a recent teaching graduate, Sophie brings enthusiasm, energy, and many talents that she is eager to share with our students, school, and community.
Eliza Van Bibber School is proud to be located in Pelly Crossing on the traditional territory of the Selkirk First Nation. We are grateful for the rich cultural heritage, knowledge, and traditions that continue to guide and strengthen our learning community. We remain committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment where every student feels valued, supported, and connected.
This year, we will continue to focus on creating engaging learning experiences that encourage curiosity, responsibility, resilience, and leadership. Through strong partnerships with families, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members, we strive to provide meaningful opportunities for students to learn both inside and outside the classroom. Guided by the North Tutchone principles of Sharing, Caring, Teaching, and Respect, we encourage our students to walk in a good way and contribute positively to our school and community.
To our families, thank you for entrusting us with your children's education. Your involvement and support play an essential role in student success, and we look forward to working in partnership with you throughout the year. One of the most important steps toward success is ensuring students attend school regularly and arrive on time each day, ready to learn.
As we begin this new journey together, I encourage all students to approach the year with confidence, kindness, and a willingness to try new things. Every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a positive difference in our school community.
We are excited for the year ahead and all the possibilities it will bring. Let us work together to make the 2026–2027 school year a successful, rewarding, and memorable one for every student.
